FAIRFAX COUNTY TO SEEK FUNDS TO DEVELOP PER EVACUATION PLAN

Fairfax County officials will ask for $200,000 in grant money from the Department of Homeland Security so they can develop a better plan to evacuate and care for pets in the event of a major disaster.
Emergency planners say they can evacuate and shelter only a fraction of the hundreds of thousands of domestic animals in the Washington area if a terrorist act or natural catastrophe takes place.
