Adat Reyim - A Community of Friends Think of our congregation as a bridge between ancient tradition and contemporary needs, hopes and realities. We are a Progressive Conservative congregation, which wishes to sustain the vibrant life of Judaism and to experience the richness of the treasury of Jewish tradition. Our ideology is a unique style of warmth and intimacy that encourages Jews in ever increasing numbers to join. Our members come from varied walks of life and backgrounds. While some are new to Jewish commitment, others hail from traditional homes and synagogues. Many, too often excluded from synagogue life, find a warm welcome in our congregation. We share a commitment to enrich Judaism by finding in it joy, meaning, and ideals. In our congregation women are treated equally and families of mixed marriages are warmly welcomed. At Adat Reyim we have accepted Orthodoxy's emphasis on a full, affirmative, joyous Judaism, upheld Conservative Judaism's classical emphasis on Jewish People, and advocate Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism's critical, evolutionary approach to Jewish life. We take to heart the words of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, "To be a Jew means first belonging to the group."
